How to get there

Bus
Recommended
Tromsø has an efficient public bus network. The main bus terminal, Prostneset, is located directly at the harbor. Other nearby city center stops include Fr. Langes gate and Skippergata. Line 42 is a frequent service that runs through the city center and harbor area.

Taxi
Recommended
Taxis can drop passengers directly at the piers. Taxis are readily available at the airport and offer the quickest journey of approximately 10 minutes directly to any point in the harbor.

Walking
Recommended
For travelers staying in central Tromsø, walking is the most convenient option. The city center is compact, and the harbor is within a 10 to 20-minute walk from most downtown hotels, restaurants, and attractions. Key streets like Storgata run parallel to the harbor, making for a simple and scenic walk.

Car
The main route into Tromsø is the E8 motorway. While convenient for drop-offs, there is no free parking in the city center during the day. Drivers can use paid street parking (metered) or utilize underground parking facilities within the city's tunnel system, which have entrances and exits in the city center.
