Direct highway buses operate from Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal in Tokyo to various points in Hakone, including the Lake Ashi area. Within Hakone, the Hakone Tozan Bus network offers extensive coverage, with some routes providing direct access to Ōwakudani.

Driving from Tokyo to Hakone is possible via the Tōmei Expressway, exiting at Gotenba Interchange or the Odawara-Atsugi Road. Parking is available at Ōwakudani.
